Mackenzie “Max” Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might disown her. Even worse, they’re expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.

Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he’s kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they’re forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.

My thoughts

As you might have noticed i had a little bit of a Cora Carmack binge lately, and that is because she is freaking awesome. So this is the second book in the Losing it series and we get to see sweet, loyal and gorgeous Cade.what can i  say about this cover other than is just as good as the Losing it cover? or even better. I think Max is just like the girl in this cover and the guy is Gorgeous.

Pain changes us. Mine made me want to be perfect, so that no one would ever want to leave me again”

If you look “good guy”or “American Boyfriend material” in the dictionary, a picture of Cade will probably be there. After leaving Texas  and having his heart-broken, Cade thought he could start over in Philadelphia, working on his master and focusing on life but as is normal in lif, problems and heartbreak followed him there *AKA Bliss and Garrick*.Not only he lost his best friend whom he loved but now he has to be witness of her happiness with an English stud, but oh no his problems don’t end there ,he hasn’t taken the stage much and is in a pretty low place in life. Pretty much his life sucks at the moment. Until he meets Max.

“Your pain made you strong. It made you passionate and alive. It made us both who we are.”

Max just wants to sing and play music. That is the only way she has to communicate her feelings and figure out what is going on in her life. Which is a lot. Having her longest relationship (3 Months) with a guy name Mace she knows he parents wont approve  but since moving to Philadelphia 3 yeas ago, she hasn’t had to worried about her parents and being the perfect daughter anymore. But when they drop for a surprise visit they expect to meet her wholesome american, library going boyfriend not her tattoo band mate. So changes had to be made,  and The stranger staring back at her is the perfect candidate.

“We should live like we smoke- Inhale he present and Exhale the past”

OH my Cade and max. They are the kind of couple you see on the street and you think, “How is that possible? And that is what had me going from chapter 1. We have max,a typical struggling musician whose parents are threatening to cut her off. The girl with the regrets and dark pass who in some way is fighting to be who she wants to be in spite of what her family and society expects of her. She just wants to be. But when she meets the last person with whom she thought she would have a connection, she is so thrown off balanced and scared to death. Then we have Cade who looks like he has the world at his feet but is just hanging by a treat. He is so different form max, while Max shows herself, flipping the bird to mostly everyone, Cade hides behind his mask of perfection terrified of being left behind and forgotten, he has become what was expected of him. But at the same time, they are alike, dragging the burden of the pass and trying to move to the future.

“…But fear lets us know we’re alive. It tells me that you care about what happens between us because the mind doesn’t waste time scared about things that don’t matter”

This book was a great fallow up to the first one. we see a little bit of Bliss and even know of Kelsey which are spoilers, especially to the first book.. I liked the chemistry and the communication between these two. there was never a lie about what was expected and it was emotional at time to see how even the strongest characters brake down at some point. The Dual point of view let you see what both of them are feeling and most of the time i was debating between , “AWWWWW” at Cade and “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” at Max. But at the end it was all more than Amazing! just taking two people who need love but due to their pass are unable to really allow it is hard , but taking tow people who love each other but are reluctant to acknowledged and pain is the way they might connect is harder, but worth it.

Just to leave a little musical note, this is the song she sang at the Gig. 😀
