Is it MAY TBR time already!? No way!

I might be one of those people who just thinks the year is going by way to fast, I’m sorry if I am and if I’m constantly repeating that, but man, it is going insanely fast. which means that is TBR time. If you know something about me is that I hate TBRs but I’ve come to the realization that I own too many books and I haven’t touch them so for me to get to them before 2017 I have to speed up the process.

Hello May Little Smilemakers Studio typography Hand lettering blog website blossom mint Maaike Boot

I didn’t make a huge list of books because I need to get my hands on A Court Of Mist And Fury (It comes out today!) and some other books I plan to read. But for now I have a small pile that I want to share, if you follow me on IG you might’ve seen it but if not, here it is!

The Siren By Kiera Cass

My life next door By Huntley Fitzpatrick

The Infinite Sea By Rick Yancey

Cinder By Marissa Meyer| Should you read it?

Goodreads Link this has all the info to the book. Check it out! 🙂

Here it is. Recently , after months and years of seeing this book all over book stores and internet , I decided to pick up Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Through the years I’ve always thought this book was seriously overhyped by everyone who read it, and that (sadly) is the reason why I never read it. Until now.

My brain used to say “EVERYONE is reading this. Don’t be like the rest” and I listened. But this past Sunday morning something happened. While browsing through my amazon prime book thingy (Can’t remember the name really) I stumbled upon this book once again. And my brain NOW said “It’s time” Thank you brain.

Basically this are the reason why everyone should read this book and the things I liked and disliked and what I’m hoping for the rest of The Lunar chronicle series, which I’m very excited for.

  1. If you’re into fantasy, dystopian and cyborgeshingg books you’re in for a treat (I seriously have no idea what category is this placed under to be honest) BECAUSE this is a ix of that and more.
  2. If you like Fairytale re-tellings with awesome twists what are you waiting for? Read it. because this is what this is. A retelling. an awesome one at that.
  3. If you love to pretty much despise the mean guy  (or girls!?) and want to reach into the story and pull the trigger yourself or make a hoover have a crash? This is for you
  4. If you love a prince? Well, Kai is good so far. ahah
  5. If you love awesome and amazing Side-kicks such as Iko. You’ll just love her and your heart will melt Like my does whenever I think of her (Pun untended here *Wink, wink*)
  6. If you love cliffhangers that are not so bad because the next book promises to be amazing? Yup this is the one.

So if you said yes or nodded your head to any of these go ahead and read it and if you have already read it , you might as well read it again. Because…Just because. The thing that I liked the most was how it was so full of action, which I was not expecting. The main characters didn’t make annoying decisions that made me want to bang my head on a wall (except for one that is) in fact Cinder is probably the coolest Thing ever.

I like how all the characters where super funny and sarcastic I also enjoyed that romance was a mayor element of the story but it was not instalove, in fact I’m pretty sure the love is still not there taking a back sit while the main plot was taking place since the begining. ahah.

Waiting on Wednesday| FEYRE AND TAMLIN?

Hey you 🙂

While browsing on Goodreads I found out that A Court of Mist and Fury has a release date! how did I not know this!? HOW? but here I am , because I found out!

Waiting on Wednesday is a book meme hosted by breaking the spines and its amazing! So yeah, the book I’m WAITING impatiently is A court of mist and fury by Sarah J. mass, the second book on the court or thorns and roses – best book ever- and I really can’t wait. I completely enjoyed the first one and hopefully this one will be as great!

MAY 3rd, 2016!

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court–but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms–and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future–and the future of a world cleaved in two.

Book Review: The Promise Of Amazing By Robin Constantine

17844678Tittle: The Promise Of Amazing

Author: Robin Constantine

Length: 371 Pages

Series: N/A

Publisher:   Blazer + Bray

Published Date:  December 31st , 2013

Gender:  Fiction, Romace, Young Adult & Contemporary

Rating: ★★★.75( 3.75 OUT OF 5).

Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of her class at Sacred Heart, she’s not popular, but not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet, “good” girl who’s always done what she’s supposed to—only now in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know how.
Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being a “term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.
One fateful night their paths cross when Wren, working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and figuratively. What follows is the complicated, awkward, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—and falling in love.

My Review:

“I kept thinking of her eyes, the depths of them, the way she looked right into me, and I wasn’t afraid of what she’d find.”

Did I love it? ….ummm not sure.

Did I liked it a lot? Heck yes. ❤

I started with really high hopes with this one, The cover is super cute, the premise is Amazing but when it came to the book per se…. well it wasn’t what I expected (some times). After saving Grayson at a weeding Wren sees something in him that she can’t describe as does Grayson, These two start a friendship of sorts that soon becomes more, but while Wren things she has him figured out it’s not true; Because he is hiding something that can damage not only their relationship but his entire life. It’s a really sweet insta-young love. It’s a very fast paced book, and entertaining, It’s told from two POV (Wren and Grayson) so you get to see the whole thing playing out.

Wren was a great character, she was funny, she felt real and I really liked where she was at that point of her life (Perfect situation for disaster and greatness)  At that age that was me. Quite, applied and had great friends. If it was me in that situation things would have been the same, I mean I still go too crazy over boys, which brings us to Grayson.

Oh Grayson I was expecting so much more from him. He was the typical, hot, rich, problematic but smart guy trying to do good. He knows he’s cute and likable so he thinks he can get away with things, and he often does. But then he gets kicked out of his school for being a Test Pimp and all his future is going down the drain. Meanwhile Wren is working hard to get what she wants (Even if she has no idea what that is). He is trying very hard to just move on and face the reality that sometimes people are not there for you. It;s not only friends and school problems he has but family problems as well, specially with the secrets he’s hiding. I liked him and he has his moments most of the time.

The supporting characters where sunny and each had their own struggles, Even the ones you wanted to hate had something that pulled you in, some little insight as to why they might be like that, except Ava, all but Ava ( I really hate Ava) and that was one of my favorite things, because pretty much everyone has something good in them and Robin Constantine made sure you saw that.

For the most part it was cute and funny and relatable. My problem with it is that it fell too unreal  towards the end that’s the only reason I give a 3.75 (Which is not really a bad thing) It was good, the drama and the development but i just didn’t really agree with how quickly things got fixed,( I mean she forgave him pretty much the next day, and he didn’t even do anything to earn it. ) the rest was perfect, the love story I loved and the things that happen when so mysterious that you just wanted to know what was happening.

“That grin was pulling me into the deep end of the pool. The scary part, the part that made me search desperately for some other task I could lose myself in, was that there was a small, insistent voice urging me to dive right in.”

Will their past determine their future?

Saint Ford has worked hard to achieve her childhood dream of becoming of nurse. Focused on her work and devoted to her patients, there’s no room for love. She doesn’t need a guy making waves in her calm, serene life—especially when he’s the unforgettable hottie who nearly destroyed her in high school. Saint has no idea that Nash isn’t the cocky player he once was. Uncovering a devastating family secret has rocked his world, and now he’s struggling to figure out his future. He can’t be distracted by the pretty nurse he seems to meet everywhere. Still, he can’t ignore the sparks that fly between them —or how she seems so desperate to get away from him. But the funny, sweet, and drop-dead gorgeous Saint is far too amazing to give up on—especially since she’s the only thing in his life that seems to make sense.

When Nash discovers the truth about their past, he realizes he may have lost her heart before he could even fight for it. Now, Saint has to decide: is Nash worth risking herself for all over again?

Length: 328 pages

Publisher: Razorbill

Published Date: April 4th. 2013.

When Camille was six years old, she was discovered alone in the snow by Enrico Vultusino, godfather of the Seven—the powerful Families that rule magic-ridden New Haven. Papa Vultusino adopted the mute, scarred child, naming her after his dead wife and raising her in luxury on Haven Hill alongside his own son, Nico.

Now Cami is turning sixteen. She’s no longer mute, though she keeps her faded scars hidden under her school uniform, and though she opens up only to her two best friends, Ruby and Ellie, and to Nico, who has become more than a brother to her. But even though Cami is a pampered Vultusino heiress, she knows that she is not really Family. Unlike them, she is a mortal with a past that lies buried in trauma. And it’s not until she meets the mysterious Tor, who reveals scars of his own, that Cami begins to uncover the secrets of her birth… to find out where she comes from and why her past is threatening her now.

My thoughts

Snow White + Vampires+ White Robe Woman+Ruby+Ellie?

Black as night. Blue as sky. Red as blood. White as snow”

I have never read a re-telling of farytales. I haven’t even read farytales before, i have watch the Disney versions but i was never interesting in the real deal. And let me tell you, This was the real deal. So Nameless is the first book by Lili St.Crowd that i had read and i enjoyed it, too much really. I noticed this book, because of the beautiful cover, and name. when i found out it was about snow-white i was sold.

“You are Nobody”

“You are Nobody “

 and it was true.

So we have Camille “Cami”  who was found almost dying on the side of the road at age 6  by one of the most influential man on the land, New Heaven. He takes her into his house and raises her as part of the “Family” alongside his son Nico. they treat her with special care and the is pampered in any way. but still she knows or at least thinks she doesn’t belong with them. And there lays her inter struggle Where is she from? who’s her dad? her mom? who does she looks like? what is her real name? These are questions that she has been scared to ask and are thrown under the rug. Until the dreams become more real and Nico is not there to chase them off.

“i w-w-wish i b-belonged” she whispered against his shoulder

“You do.” he whispered back “With me…”

She lives her life struggling to hide her scars and only speak, that is stutter, withe two best friends and Nico. She doesn’t pay attention to things going on around her until she meets the wooden skin man and his too similar eyes and the garden boy, Tor. What is he? she doesn’t know. but she feels a connection to him that she hasn’t felt with anyone, not even Nico who is the love of her life.  After Papa, vultusino passes to be part of the seven her care is handed to Nico who is ever gone. Now Cami has all the time in the world to herself and not even Crazy Ruby and sweet Ellie can keep her mind off the matter. so she decides to take matters in into her hands.

“We are foreigners,” Papa’s voice whispered in her memory. “Always, we are strangers in all lands”

One of things that caught my attention was the world in which they lived, it was so interesting  but the lack of world building was so lacking ( That is why it a 4 rating :() that it made it so had to understand what was going on in a lot of moments. i can see people having a lot and i do mean a lot of problems with this. At some point we did get some background but it was confusing as hell, i started thing about this and i figured (HOPEFULLY) that the reason Lili St. Crowd did do more character description and world building was because she wanted us to make it up on our own with the little snippets of info she gave? Like i say that is hopefully it. Even though there was no world building when i half way throw the book i was familiar with it.

“Book. Candle. Nico”

Another great thing was how strong and likable the characters were, Ruby is by far my favorite and Ellie just made me ache. Cami was fantastic, her personal growth and insecurities where relatable when they shouldn’t have been , she was powerful and just a good person. Her relationship with Nico was so cute, even thought we don’t see any declaration of love, i saw how protective of her he was , even when there were times i wanted to smack him in the face. Tor was just … i don’t know what to say. i thought something and he would make me change my mind on the next page.

“Pierrot did not follow the Moon , after all.”

I think Lili St.Crowd made a beautifully haunting Story that made me fall in love with Fary tales. and i wont forget it any time soon. Her prose and plot where beautiful and charming. i cant wait to get the next one on the series , because YES, there are more! it was a great book about finding what what and who home is. and how we can find it in the place were we are loved by choice no matter how it happened.
